Volunteers handing care packages to neighbors at a community event
Ohio-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Be strong.Go on.

When life knocks you down, even the smallest act can help you get back up and keep going—a warm coat, shoes, a gift, or a word of support. We’re making sure no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

We help neighbors carry what they cannot carry alone.

Be Strong > Go On, BSGO, was founded on the belief that no one should face life's challenges  alone. We provide practical support for families and individuals through essentials like diapers, school supplies, winter clothing, and holiday assistance—while ensuring every interaction is rooted in dignity, respect, and care.

Dignity first

No paperwork gauntlets, no proving you deserve it, no small print. Help is help.

Real, not symbolic

We don't fund-raise for awareness. We fund-raise for backpacks, coats, and Christmas presents.

Humor is medicine

Terri laughs through hard things. So do we. Joy is part of the package.

What we do

Three programs. One promise.

Real help, the kind you can hold in your hands.

Hope for the Holidays
MAGICal, miracles delivered.

Hope for the Holidays

Every December we sponsor families within 20 miles of Lodi, Ohio so no child wakes up on Christmas morning without gifts. From toys to coats to encouragement, we deliver more than presents — we deliver the promise that someone cares.

First day, fully equipped.

Back-to-School

A new school year should feel like a fresh start, not a financial burden. We supply backpacks, school supplies, and a new outfit for the first day of school, so every child walks into class ready to learn and succeed.

For individuals experiencing homelessness, we  deliver essential items directly to those in need, such as hygiene kits, warm clothing, coats, socks, hats, and gloves, as well as blankets, and other survival essentials.

How we started

It started with a book, and a woman who refused to quit.

BSGO is named after Be Strong > Go On, the memoir by founder Terri Baker-Helton. Through a lifetime of personal challenges, loss, and adversity, Terri discovered a steady inner strength that carried her forward, along with determination—and sometimes humor—that helped her keep going. Over time, she felt called not only to navigate her own experiences, but to help others move through theirs as well.

What began as a personal story grew into a mission to support people facing difficult seasons of life. As Terri looked around her Ohio community, she saw people who were not being reached and began meeting needs wherever she could. As the work expanded beyond what one person could carry alone, she filed for 501(c)(3) status—because at some point, it had become bigger than one woman with a backseat full of coats.
